Hello friends and colleagues,

We would like to invite you to help create something new this fall.

The UMBC Visual Arts Alliance is a group of students working together to make the visual arts program a place in which we can learn from each other, meet new people, and build a community that showcases the arts at UMBC.

Here is where you come in. We want to hear your ideas of how to be more involved. Maybe you’d like to join small group critiques to improve your work. You may also have a technical skill, learned outside of class, that you could teach to a workshop of fellow students. Or maybe you just have a favorite film that you’d like to play for others. We want to build a community where this will happen, and whether you are a rising senior or an incoming freshman, we want you to be a part of it.

We have already started reforming the late UMBC AIGA student group. But you don’t need to be a designer to get involved. Whether you are a photographer, art historian, animator, or anything in between, we want to extend to you this opportunity to move the art community at UMBC forward. We are excited to meet you, share a cup of coffee, and get to work.

 Yours,

Marcus Relacion
